Brain Breaks

Did you know that after about 10-18 minutes of lecture most students begin to zone out. From personal experience, I know that this can be true. When teaching, it is important to get students up and moving throughout lessons. A great solution for this is brain breaks. Brain breaks are short fun activities that students can do to boost their energy. For some brain breaks you can even incorporate information from your lessons as a check for understanding.

I have attached a website with some really great brain breaks! Go check it out!

  1. Hey Kendell!
I enjoy participating in Brain/ Wellness breaks in my courses. Most of my Health and Physical Education professors utilize brain/ wellness breaks. In my Educational Movement class, Dr. Clark assigned his students to create one for the class. I can also relate to zoning out whether it is an early morning or long course. Thank you providing a link for those who may not have participated in a brain/ wellness break!

  2. Hi Kendall, I 100% agree with you. Having PE 152 with Dr. Clark helped me get a better understanding of brain breaks. I think they are very beneficial for students so that they can boost their energy half ways through a class. I will be using break breaks in the future. I remember last semester we had to do them for the class and they were actually fun!!!

  3. This is 100 percent true. After only a minute of a teacher talking, students can start to forget what they are trying to talk about. Brain breaks are essential and a great tool for teachers to use for their students. I noticed when some of our professors give us a brain break I can return to class and fully focus on the task at hand. Give your brain a break it needs one!
